L'ATHENE offers a complete line of pure nutrient skincare to... nourish and restore skin on dry, challenged hands.
Cracked bleeding hands can be so painful and a source of infection. Many people have occupations that put them at risk. For instance, when hands are in water frequently, are washed continuously, are put in grease or other adhesive agents, or are in gloves for hours. Harsh anti-bacterial soaps can be very irritating too. L'ATHENE received national press for helping painful, cracked hands of bus mechanics in only three days.
Reduce the Cracked, Dry, Flaking, Reddened, Irritated Skin
The cracks need attention! Left untreated, these cracks in the skin leave you more vulnerable to infections and outside irritants.
Here is the Bus Mechanics Protocol that resulted in national press with its 3-day improvement results: Each night, before bed, gently wash hands with organic shampoo, rinse and pat dry. Then apply a layer of NEROLI Body Silkening Nutrient Crème. Follow with a layer of A&D Ointment® to the areas on the hands where the cracks are and where you feel they are most likely to occur. Then, apply white cotton socks (the athletic type), to your hands. Sleep in the socks over the hands at night until the cracks heal. Socks work better than gloves. In the morning, remove the socks, shower as normal and apply just NEROLI Creme for the day. If during the day, the skin needs a hydration boost, apply a drop of EXTRACT Dry Skin Hydrating Plant Oil. Rub in and apply NEROLI over the dried area.

Care for Your Hands Each Day
Be sure to wash your hands with warm water - not hot or cold. Temperature extremes are not healthy for the skin. Wear unpowdered rubber gloves whenever possible if you are working in water or grease. If your hands tend to sweat, try a pair of white cotton gloves under the rubber gloves and launder them frequently. After you wash your hands, dry completely. Apply a layer of NEROLI Body Silkening Nutrient Crème. This nutritive creme helps restore fatty acid content to the skin. It contains no petroleum barriers so it goes directly into the skin. Apply after shower and at bedtime. If skin gets dry during the day, apply at least one other time. If hands begin to look redder or the weather is cold and drying, and your hands are exposed to the elements, follow the suggestions above for cracks. By doing this procedure preventatively, you can help avoid cracks from occurring.

Additional Information
Avoid Hand Creams that Contain Harsh Cosmetic Chemicals... which can Irritate More
Almost all skincare for hands, including medical skincare brands, contain harsh alcohols, petroleum-derivatives, detergents, and many other potential skin irritating ingredients that can cause further redness, inflammation or discomfort. This also includes many products that claim they are good for sensitive skin. Become a label reader. Read more about the ingredients in L'ATHENE products.
Reduce Further Redness and Skin Irritation... with your Cleansing Choices
Avoiding anti-bacterial hand soaps is best! Washing hands with anti-bacterial soaps can be very drying to skin. First, these soaps contain detergents that strip the skin of essential fatty acids that help hydrate our hands. Secondly, anti-bacterial soaps contain bacteria-fighting agents that can irritate the skin. This irritation can feel minimal at first, but over a prolonged period of time, can lead to serious skin breakdown.
For a number of people, especially people in healthcare, eliminating anti-bacterial soaps during the work hours is not possible. You can still protect and correct the skin dryness and boost the skin's hydration by using NEROLI Body Silkening Nutrient Creme at night and first thing in the morning, helping to make it less likely to breakdown.
Switching to a non-detergent, natural hand cleanser is helpful to avoid further irritation. You can get an organic shampoo and use it to wash your hands. The main ingredients to avoid are the sulfates. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate are a few of the most common sulfates used. These ingredients make the product create a lot of lather but can be very stripping to the skin, potentially robbing the skin of its natural oils, contributing to dryness, flaking and itching.
